Excerpt From The Fundraising Book

To help you understand which fundraising strategies might work for you, I came up with a list of types of businesses, and strategies that typically work for those businesses to raise money. Later in the book, I'll talk about some crazy ways you can hustle to come up with money. Those extra-hustle strategies will fit almost everyone who wants it bad enough.

i. Growth businesses, often apps, tech or web start-ups: these companies usually raise money from professional growth seed investors, crowdfunding, friends and family, crowdfunding, incubators.

ii. Local businesses: these companies usually raise money from savings, friends and family, non-professional investors.

iii. Self-branded or single-entrepreneur lifestyle businesses: these companies usually raise money from self-funding, friends and family, or ideally from revenue.

iv. Non-profits: these organizations usually raise money from grants, crowdfunding from loyal fans, savings, friends and family.

v. Agency or service provider like design or app/software development or marketing services: these companies usually raise money from self-funding, savings, and friends and family.
